MYTH
We can figure out exactly what is causing our pain by just having a scan (x-ray, MRI, CT, ultrasound) done.

TRUTH
- There are just as many findings on MRIs and x-ray in pain-free joints as painful ones.
- Often these findings are “wrinkles on the inside” and can be very normal age-related changes
- They do not always pinpoint the source of your pain and can be misleading
- Scans do not come without risk: such as increased radiation entering the body and can lead to higher rates of unnecessary surgical intervention
If you would like to discuss the results of your imaging report, we can assess you and help put your scan results in context of your function as a whole.
Let us come up with a plan together to make the right decision for you.
