What is Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy?
What is Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy?
Pelvic floor function is an essential part of our well being, especially for bowel and bladder and sexual health. The pelvic floor is also a component of our core, which is important in order for stability so that we can prevent injuries. We want a well functioning pelvic floor in order to prevent injury with more formal types of exercise, like weight lifting or running, but to also avoid injury with day to day activities like running around with your kids, lifting groceries, or doing some gardening.

How Do You Know If You Need Pelvic Floor Physio?
Pelvic floor physio is also for anyone who experiences:
- any type of bowel and bladder leaking/urgency or dysfunction
- issues with sexual function
- pain with sex
- pelvic pain
We also work with women who are currently pregnant to assist with ease of labour and delivery, or with women who are post partum and experiencing symptoms such as urine leaking when they cough, sneeze, jump or run.
It’s important to know that these symptoms are not normal, and not something that you just have to live with. No matter how long you may have been experiencing these symptoms, there are always things we can do to help.
What Does Pelvic Floor Phyiso Help With?
Pelvic Floor muscles are like any other muscles in the body: they can be lengthened, tight, or weak. But because they are like any other muscle in the body, we can rehab them the same way by strengthening them or improving their function. This is how we can help change the symptoms you are experiencing.
If anything that I’ve talked about today has resonated with you, please call the clinic for a discovery call and we can see if pelvic physio is right for you!
