How can I sleep better?

Getting a quality 8 hour sleep can be a challenge for everyone. With the current break from our usual routine, maintaining a good sleep schedule is absolutely vital. Proper amounts of sleep help us with our immune system, proper muscle recovery, weight management and countless other areas related to our health.

Tip #1: Careful What You Consume

  • Caffeine will obviously affect your ability to sleep, but other diuretics (such as alcohol) or other foods (chocolate, spicy foods) can also interfere with sleep

  • Consumption of social media or hours of a Netflix show before bed will also inhibit your ability to get a quality sleep

Tip #2: Create an Evening Routine Before Bed

  • Try and follow a routine each night, such as always washing your face, brushing your teeth and then reading a book

  • You can also incorporate something to help you relax before you sleep. Practicing mindfulness or deep breathing can help people settle into a better sleep

  • Daily exercise is one of the best things you can do for sleep

  • Avoid spending too much time in bed during the day (no eating or watching TV/playing on your phone)
