Obesity
How can exercise help with Obesity?
A healthy diet and exercise is the foundation to a healthy lifestyle. Being overweight increases your risk for other chronic health conditions including heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, stroke, and many other illnesses. According to the World Health Organization, to prevent and treat heart disease, people should strive to obtain a BMI of under 25 and a waist circumference of 35 inches or below. Regular exercise helps you burn more calories than you consume, leading to weight loss. Exercise for weight loss is not all about cardio. Strength training helps you increase your total muscle mass. A greater muscle mass helps you burn more calories at rest, which ultimately leads to weight loss.
Physical activity reduces the risks of cardiovascular disease and diabetes beyond that produced by weight reduction alone.
