6 Tips for Quick Pain Relief from Plantar Fasciitis

What is Plantar Fasciitis?

Plantar fasciitis is a common cause of heel pain in many adults. The plantar fascia is a band of tissue that connects the heel to the toes. People describe pain from plantar fasciitis as a dull, aching pain in the foot sole, that is often worse in the morning. Click here to read more about plantar fasciitis. Below are some quick tips and exercises to help manage and reduce pain from plantar fasciitis. If you believe you may have plantar fasciitis, or have severe heel pain, consult a physiotherapist for treatment.

Here are some tips for some quick pain relief: 

1. Rest | Rest, and refrain from high impact activities to help reduce inflammation in the foot sole. 

2. Ice | an ice pack is a great way to short term pain relief from plantar fasciitis 

3. Shoe Orthotics | Orthotics can help give your arch additional support 

4. Use a Water Bottle? | A water bottle can be a great tool at home to help with pain relief. Fill up a water bottle and freeze. Roll the water bottle along the length of your foot sole, for a great stretch and ice at the same time. 

5. Stretch | stretching the calf muscles can help with pain relief from plantar fasciitis, check out the video below for a great calf stretch
